CVC Direct is delighted to have been given the opportunity to sponsor fifteen year old Dundonald school boy, Robert Mallon who is on target to take the world of Field Archery by storm after being selected to represent Great Britain in the upcoming 2008 World Field Archery Championships to be held in Wales from August 31st to September 7th.
The Newtownbreda High School pupil who only took up archery just under two years ago as a pastime has swept the boards at local and British level finishing in first place in the under 18 bare bow class in every competition he has entered over the last two years.
After winning the Northern Ireland Field Archery Championships in March, and in the process twice beating a 15 year old British points scoring record set by local GB team archer Peter Mulligan, he then competed in the British Championships held this year in Ballywalter, Co Down and won the British title at his first attempt. Finishing with an overall score of 571 points, Robert would have finished in 6th place if competing in the senior section of the event, an amazing feat for a fifteen year old.
With his success at the British Championships he has now been selected to represent Great Britain and travels to England this weekend to train with the rest of the GB squad in preparation for the World Championships in Early September.
Robert is a member of Lough Cuan Bowmen Archery Club in Newtownards.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish Robert all the best for the upcoming championships.
