Health and Safety:
- Do you have a written Health and Safety Policy and is it reviewed annually?
- Have you completed any risk assessments and are they reviewed at regular intervals?
- Do you record employee's acknowledgement of your Health and Safety Policy and risk assessments?
- Do staff using computers, monitors or TV screens monitor their time in front of the screen and keep their workstations free of clutter, well lit and free from glare?
- Are you using the New Accident Book for recording accidents?
- Do you record your risk assessments, and review them annually?
- Have you completed and recorded your PAT testing?
- Has a manual handling assessment been carried out and recorded?
- Have all your employees received Health and Safety training?
- Have you carried out and recorded your COSHH risk assessment/s?
- Have you completed and recorded a Fire Risk Assessment?
Human Resources:
- Have you issued all employees with a written statement of their Terms and Conditions of Employment?
- Do you issue all employees with written statement of earnings?
- Do you have an employee handbook detailing the companies' policies and procedures e.g., sickness procedure, holiday entitlement, grievance procedure, Health and Safety policy etc.?
- Are you aware of the new Working Time regulations?
- Are you aware of the recent changes to Legislation for part-time workers holiday entitlement?
- Are you aware of the Legislation covering Sexual Discrimination/Race Discrimination/Age/Disability?
- Have you read the Green Paper: Work and Parents, competitiveness and choice?
- Are you aware and have you actioned the new Smoking Legislation?
- Are you aware of what you can and cannot place in an advert seeking a new Employee?
- Do you have Employers Liability insurance in place?
Occupational Road Risk:
- How many employees use company owned/leased vehicles?
- How many employees use their own vehicles for work business?
- Any contractors, agency or temp staff use any vehicles for company business?
- Any vans/light industrial vehicles used?
- Any drivers aged 17-24?
- Have you carried out an organisational risk assessment?
- Do you know when all vehicles being used for company business drivers were last serviced and when the next service is due (regardless of vehicle ownership?
- Do you carry out driver audits or assessments, and do you have information relating to licences, endorsements?
- Do you have a specific 'company driver's policy' and 'driver's handbook'? (Management of Health and Safety at Work - need specific guidance)
- Do you have a system in place of regular checks to monitor employees driving hours so you can illustrate they do not exceed the working time regulations.
